IPod-ing in the Car
For my birthday, I received a cool little add-on for the iPod. iTrip is an FM transmitter that lets you play your iPod music through your car stereo. The industrial design and usability are both first rate. The iTrip creates a custom iPod playlist containing a bunch of preset FM frequencies on which to broadcast; this playlist allows you to select the “best” station (i.e., no interference from nearby FM stations) for the iPod to use. I’ve used my iTrip/iPod during my commute to and from work the past two days; I give it a 5 out of 5!

Now I just need the hands-free voice recognition add-on, and I’ll be good to go.
08/06/03 Update: Looks like I won’t be driving around jolly-ole England with my iTrip any time soon. As reported in this Register article, using the iTrip in the UK is now illegal. “The bottom line… is that using iTrip is an offence akin to operating a pirate radio station. If caught, the user faces prosecution, as does the dealer for selling him or her their iTrip.”
